Saturday School

M.S. 137 offers Saturday School intended to support students who require additional assistance in major subject areas. In addition, some Saturday school sessions are designated for Algebra Regents practice.

In addition, our Saturday Program is intended to support our students who speak a language other than English at home and who are not yet proficient in English.

We provide English as a New Language learners (ENLS),

former ENLs, and their families with access to well-rounded education. Our program helps students develop their language skills as they work to master their school assignments.

The programs we are implementing to support language acquisition mastering are MobyMax, Max Scholars, I-Ready & Leveled Novels and non fiction Texts. We also utilize iPads and various software applications such as Duolingo and Google Translate to help support our students in and out of class. These programs help students acquire and master the skills they need to succeed in English and progress in the following four skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. In addition, we offer an after school program incorporating technology to support our students’ performance on the NYSESLAT, ELA, and Math assessments.

If selected for any of the Saturday school offerings, students will receive a permission slip, which should be signed and returned to school as soon as possible in order to reserve a spot. Please review permission slip information, as well as the monthly school calendar for the dates and times for Saturday school.
